Emergency

An emergency is not a category of job so much as a condition every other category can fall into: a house lockout at 2am, a car with no working key left to it, a storefront whose lock failed an hour before opening. What makes it an emergency is not the lock or the vehicle — it is that it cannot wait for a booked appointment, and that is the one thing every service on this page is built around. The technician who answers is mobile, not dispatched from a call centre to a subcontractor — the same person who picks up the phone is the one who drives out, with the cutting, programming and entry equipment already on board. That matters most on the jobs where nothing can be pieced together after the fact: a vehicle with no key left to copy, or a door that has to stay secure the same night it fails. Two policies hold here exactly as firmly as everywhere else on this site, if not more so. Non-destructive entry is tried first wherever the hardware allows it, because an emergency is not a reason to lower that bar. And proof of ownership or authority is checked before any key is cut or any door is opened — on the job most likely to be rushed, that check is the one thing that should never be.
