What this actually involves
A lockout is the most common emergency call: the key exists, but it is on the wrong side of a locked door, or it has gone missing entirely with no way back in. Entry is attempted without damaging the lock wherever the hardware allows it, across houses, apartments, businesses and vehicles alike, with ownership or authority checked before the door is opened.
Locked out is not the same problem twice
Being on the wrong side of a locked door covers two very different situations. Sometimes the key is right there — in a coat on the other side, in the ignition, on a counter left just out of reach — and the job is simply getting the door open without damaging it. Other times the key is genuinely gone, and the visit has to end with a new one as well as an open door. Which one you have changes what shows up in the van, so it is the first thing established on the phone.
Why non-destructive entry is tried first, every time
Drilling or forcing a lock is faster in the moment and more costly in every way that matters after: a damaged cylinder has to be replaced, not just reset, and a lock that shows signs of forced entry can complicate matters if the property changes hands or is broken into later. Picking, bypassing or decoding the existing lock is tried first wherever the hardware allows it, and cutting or drilling only happens when it is genuinely the only option — and that is explained before it happens, not after.
